Connecting WordPress with OpenAI

With OpenAI, the world has changed and continues to change. As AI becomes more advanced, so do our tools – and in turn, what we work with has to evolve at the same pace.

WordPress & AI: An Idea

When you take a step back and look at Gutenberg, the WordPress block editor, you realise something interesting: at its core, it’s just structured content. Headings, paragraphs, images, columns – all organised in patterns. However what if AI could understand that structure? What if instead of just generating text, it could return complete, ready-to-use content blocks?

That question led me to start a new WordPress project. And what came out the other side might just change how you create content in WordPress.

WordPress & AI: Let’s Get Started

Imagine this: you’re staring at a blank page in WordPress. You know what you want to say, but the words aren’t coming. Instead of wrestling with writer’s block, you simply type:

/ai write a welcome message for my bakery website that mentions our fresh sourdough and Saturday morning specials

You press Enter. A moment later, after some time thinking the API returns inviting welcome message – formatted, styled, and ready to publish. No copying from ChatGPT. No reformatting. No fiddling with blocks. It just… works.

That’s the main idea: bring the power of AI directly into the WordPress editor, saving you time and effort and allows you to focus on what you’re good at.

The AI generates it, uploads it to your media library, and drops it right into your post. No stock photo hunting. No watermarks. Just the image you imagined.

The content gets pulled in, converted into proper WordPress blocks, ready for you to edit and make your own.

In future this will expand to handle new commands.

WordPress & AI: The Magic Behind It

Here’s what makes this different from just using ChatGPT and copying text over: I’ve designed this plugin to have context from WordPress itself allowing it to understand Gutenberg.

When you ask for content, you don’t get text dumped into a single paragraph. You get proper headings that show up in your document outline. Lists that are actually list blocks. Images that are image blocks. Even complex layouts with columns and buttons – all created automatically.

It’s like having a contend designer who not only writes for you but also knows exactly how to format everything for your website.
